Halloween is almost here, and the South Bay has plenty of fun planned for the final days of October!
One of our favorite things about Halloween in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach is how much the neighborhoods get into it. From decorated homes and trick-or-treating to local businesses welcoming families and their four-legged friends, there's something for everyone.
Whether you're planning a family outing, dressing up your pup or looking for the best places to trick-or-treat, here are a few local favorites to put on your calendar.
Thursday, October 29 | 5–7 PM | Manhattan Beach Civic Center
Kick off Halloween weekend with the City of Manhattan Beach and Manhattan Beach Police Department's Trunk or Treat!
Police, fire and city vehicles will be decorated for Halloween, with plenty of opportunities for kids to collect candy, show off their costumes and enjoy an evening downtown. Tacos will also be available for purchase.
The event takes place in the Civic Center Upper Parking Lot, with the entrance off 15th Street between Valley Drive and Highland Avenue.
A fun way to start the Halloween celebrations a couple of days early!
Friday, October 30 | 3–6 PM | Pier Avenue, Hermosa Beach
Don't forget about the dogs this Halloween!
Hermosa Beach's Howl-O-Ween Treat Trail invites pups and their people to dress up and visit participating Pier Avenue businesses for dog-friendly treats.
Pick up a Paws-port and trail map, collect stamps along the way and stop by the Bark Photo Booth to enter the costume contest.
With categories like Best in Show, Dynamic Duo and Funniest Costume, we're expecting some pretty adorable competition.
This is a great excuse to spend an afternoon in Downtown Hermosa with your four-legged best friend.
Friday, October 30 | 5–8 PM | Redondo Beach Pier
The Redondo Beach Pier is getting into the Halloween spirit with a free, family-friendly evening by the ocean.
There will be Halloween arts and crafts, music, a magic show and a photo station for all those costumes.
Participating Pier and Boardwalk businesses will also be handing out treats from 5–6 PM, while supplies last.
It's a fun way to enjoy the waterfront and celebrate Halloween before the big day.
Saturday, October 31 | 12–3 PM | International Boardwalk, Redondo Beach
Looking for something fun to do before evening trick-or-treating?
Head to the International Boardwalk for Harbor Haunts, a free Halloween celebration at King Harbor.
Families can enjoy trick-or-treating at participating businesses, music, dancing, Halloween crafts, photo opportunities and a festive bingo activity.
Costumes are encouraged, and with the harbor as your backdrop, it's a pretty great way to spend Halloween afternoon.
Saturday, October 31 | 3–8 PM | Riviera Village, Redondo Beach
One of Redondo Beach's favorite Halloween traditions returns to Riviera Village!
Catalina Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic between Avenue I and South Elena Street, giving families room to stroll through the Village in costume.
Local shops will be handing out candy and treats until 6 PM, while supplies last, and the street closure continues until 8 PM.
We love that you can make an afternoon of it, enjoying the decorations, supporting local businesses and grabbing dinner at one of the neighborhood restaurants afterward.
Saturday, October 31 | Evening | Manhattan Beach Sand Section
If you've spent Halloween in Manhattan Beach before, you know the walkstreets are something special.
Every year, neighbors go all out decorating their homes with pumpkins, lights, skeletons and some pretty impressive Halloween displays.
The walkstreets in the Sand Section, particularly in South Manhattan Beach, are popular with families for trick-or-treating.
It's one of those neighborhood traditions that makes living in Manhattan Beach so much fun.
A little local advice: arrive early, expect crowds and be mindful that these are residential streets where neighbors are generously welcoming trick-or-treaters.
However you're celebrating this year, we hope you get to enjoy a little Halloween fun around town.
From family traditions to local events and neighborhood celebrations, it's another reminder of what makes our South Bay communities such wonderful places to call home.
And if you're exploring a move to Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach or Redondo Beach, we're always happy to share our local perspective on the neighborhoods, homes and communities that make this area so special.
